Rhode Island is grappling with three major issues: the economy, the economy, and the economy. Our state is facing one of the highest unemployment rates in the country, and this has led to many Rhode Islanders struggling with their personal economy.
The financial crisis may have started some six years ago, but our community continues to suffer every day. Joblessness has contributed to greater poverty and homelessness; and those who have jobs can’t afford childcare, contributing to after-school issues in our state.
We’ve been based here in Rhode Island since 2007 and we’ve been serving fellow Rhode Islanders since 2010, so we know what the issues are. We see them every day.
Our programs are designed with these everyday issues in mind. Our goal is to fight poverty and social inequality – here at home.
Khadarlis’ flagship program in Rhode Island is our Donation Center. We’ve built a robust network of partners who offer donations ranging from bed linen, bathroom essentials, to kitchenware. With these items, we – together with our referral partners – are able to help those in need rebuild their lives.
But that’s not all we do. In Rhode Island, Khadarlis also offers expungement classes, giving convicted criminals who have served their time a second chance at being productive members of our community.
